07/06/2005: "Cindy..."

...was quite the heinous bitch.

Tropical Storm, Cindy, that is.

The wench came through early this morning and NAILED us, since we were on the northeast side of it when it came ashore for the second time in Biloxi. Two of my trees in the front yard were casualties, and I'm worried about the cardinal family that lives in a bush out back. I've seen the dad, the mom, and one of the babies, but two babies are missing.

I spent the day cleaning up from the storm, and I also had to raise up the blown-down trees. I need to get tree anchors to keep the two trees from going down again--right now I'm using sandbags to hold the root balls down. But I need to anchor them before hurricane Dennis gets here (it's still a tropical storm, but it'll be a hurricane by the time it arrives--possibly a major hurricane.)

So anyway, instead of writing, I'm doing storm clean up and hurricane preparedness. We'll most likely be evacuating on Saturday or Sunday. I SO don't want to evacuate. Last time was hellish. Beyond hellish. (Oooh, I can make a hurricane evacuation hell visual! *g*)

Hope everyone is getting lots of writing done, and if I'm not around much over the next few days, you know why! sad

Thanks, everyone. It's looking like we'll have to go. We don't have storm shutters, so we're screwed if we take a direct hit.

Lindsay, thanks for visiting! smile
