Oh, I can answer the What To Work On Next question: pull up your top three prospects. Get a timer. Work on each one for ten minutes at a time. Whichever one you don't want to stop on when the time's up is your baby!

I take about a week off and do absolutely nothing. Then I start to work on something new. Usually I get an idea for something new when I'm in the final quarter of my WIP so I will have been simmering it while I finish the current book.

As soon as I wrap up a story, I celebrate. LOL Usually I have ideas for new works that hammer at me long before I can type the end on one. Characters can be so demanding at times. But I really like Cheyenne's ideas. Very smart.

I tell myself that I'm going to be the perfect wife for two whole weeks. Make breakfast, lunch and dinner, have a sparkling clean apt, and catch up on all of those dreadful tasks that I've been avoiding.
It's never taken my longer than two days for a story to completely occupy my mind that I know I MUST write.

I'm extremely slow at getting ideas, so I try to have something...very VAGUE mind you...ready to start on when I finish. Right now, I don't have the problem. As soon as I finish revisions (assuming I EVER do) I'll go back to the other story...the one I sent to the editor...the one that I only have partially written, and get busy on that! lol

Just got power back after some massive thunderstorms that spawned a tornado that touched down a mile away and then moved directly toward us. It was SO cool!
Anyway, you guys have some great ideas and advice. Love the housecleaning one. I should try that. It would take all of a day to decide I need to write again! LOL

Um, okay. Not here where we get killer F4's in the middle of the night.
I can totally emphathize on the limbo. I've been there, since, like, January. Finished a story much quicker than I thought I would and have since started two more. Both fizzled. I'm slowly getting into the swing of things, but it's been more of a "have to" to keep up the discipline than a "want to" because the story was calling to me. However, I LOVE Charlene's timer idea.
